Arachnids, like insects, are arthropods. All animals in the phylum Arthropoda have exoskeletons, segmented bodies, and at least three pairs of legs.
Tarantula (Theraphosidae)
Tarantulas are about 11 inches long and weigh about 1-3 oz. Tarantulas can live up to 30 years. Tarantulas feed on insects like grasshoppers, beetles, other small spiders and will sometimes eat small lizards. They will attempt to overcome anything of the right size that moves in their range. Tarantulas can regrow a leg if it loses one.
Scorpion (Scorpiones)
Scorpions are 21 cm long and weigh 2 ounces. Scorpions live up to 3-8 years. Scorpions eat insects, spiders, other scorpions and lizards. They also eat small mammals, such as mice. Scorpions must have water to drink, but they can survive for months without food. Scorpions use their pinchers to capture and crush prey.
